Lil’ Cease (#20), the second single of Lil’ Kim‘s first album “Hard Core”, saw extensive use of the original song as sample plus an uncredited chorus by Biggie himself. The hour for the song came in 1996, when “Crush on You” feat. No other than Biggie used a part of the song as a sample in his 1994 “Big Poppa” (reaching #6 on the Hot100, though this song is much more widely known for its easily recognizable Isley Brothers-sample of “Between the Sheets” played throughout the song). Little did the band know that they provided one of the most fruitful samples in hiphop and more so in RnB. The original sample, however, also saw some more success: in 1997, it was used again for SWV’s “Love Like This” featuring Lil’ Cease.
